Obafemi Martins backs Oliseh to succeed

Seattle Sounders forward and former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins thinks that Sunday Oliseh’s first list as the new national team handler is right on the money. Martins, who has scored 18 goals in 39 games for Nigeria, described the list, which includes 6 home-based stars from the NPFL, as laden with talent and has tipped the super Eagles to overcome the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.
“I think the coach has chosen a good squad and hopefully Nigeria will win in Tanzania,” the mercurial star said from his base in Seattle USA.
“We shouldn’t underrate any team in Africa for now, there are no minnows in world football anymore. I have seen the list, very experienced team led by Emenike and Vincent Enyeama and I am sure they will beat their host to come out top in the group.” He went on to say.

“Obagoal”, as he is fondly referred to by adoring fans, has recently declared that he is willing to play for Nigeria again after publicly criticising former Coach Keshi and vowing not to don the green and white jersey again.

Nigeria and Egypt have three points each after one game in the 2017 Afcon qualifying series in Group G, though the Pharaohs lead on goals difference following their 3-0 defeat of Tanzania in Cairo.

The game is on Saturday the 5th, in Dar Es Salam at 4.30 local time which will be aired by 2.30pm in Nigeria.
