Prince William & Kate Middleton celebrate 4th wedding anniversary

Yesterday, Wednesday, April 29, Kate Middleton, 33, and her Husband Prince William, 32, left their Kensington Palace home around 11 a.m and headed towards Buckingham palace to celebrate their wedding anniversary. The royals celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary on the low-key day, marking the moment that they said "I do" privately.

The couple got married on April 29, 2011, in the festive ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The Adamawa North Senatorial District Senator-elect, Binta Garba, on Thursday said she would unite the upper legislative chamber if she is elected as the first female Senate President in Nigeria.

According to her, as the only female Senator from the North, her interest to vie for the Senate Presidency is to bring transparency into the leadership of the red chamber.

Hajiya Hauwa Yuguda, the mother of the Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, on Wednesday died at the age of 85 after a protracted illness.

The governor, who is the eldest son of the deceased, popularly called Goggo, described his mother’s death as a great loss to the entire family.

He also described her late mother as a caring mother, who used to accommodate to all.

Woman Beheads Her 3-Month-Old Daughter On Kitchen Counter

A mentally ill mother, Deasia Watkins, has been arrested after she allegedly beheaded her 3-month-old daughter in Ohio.
The 20-year-old woman was however found incompetent to stand trial and was transferred to a treatment facility.She was ordered to be evaluated and treated in a behavioral facility.
Watkins will be brought back to court in 6 months to reevaluate the decision.

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari received diplomats from Poland and Spain yesterday, April 29, 2015.

There was confusion at the Ojodu Berger Motor Park area of Lagos on Wednesday after drivers and passengers found a commercial driver dead inside his bus.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the deceased, only known by a nickname, Big Daddy, had slept overnight inside the bus, only to be found dead on Wednesday.

Our correspondent learnt that the driver, who hailed from Odogbolu, Ogun State, lived in the Ikorodu area of Lagos with his family.

It was gathered that the matter was reported to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division which later sent officers to remove the corpse.

A Saudi national convicted of murdering his father was beheaded on Thursday, bringing to 70 the number of executions carried out this year in the kingdom, the interior ministry said.

The number compares with 87 in the whole of 2014, according to an AFP tally.

A 35-year-old graduate of law, Imoh Sunday, is currently facing charges of forgery, stealing and impersonation at the Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State.

He was accused of diverting a sum of N1.9m belonging to the Red Star Courier Service.

Sunday had told the police that he graduated in 2009 and claimed to have been called to bar.

He was arraigned for impersonation and forgery after it was discovered that he used a cloned law school certificate as part of bail conditions for the initial charges that brought him to the court on February 27.

Sixty four present senators-elect had in a meeting at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Yesterday, endorse the former Kwara State governor, Senator Bukola Saraki, for the post of Senate president, ahead of the inauguration of the 8th Senate.

According to ThisDay, the senators who are backing Saraki had decided to throw their weight behind the former Kwara State governor, because they want a “Senate president who is a product of the members and not imposed by a godfather.”

Comedian, Talk Show host and TV producer Teju Babyface's wife, Tobi Oyelakin, was on her way to the mainland at about 8pm last night when her car was attacked by hoodlums on Eko Bridge. She was in the car with her driver and 3 other girls in the back seat and were approaching the National Theater area of the Eko bridge when they encountered some traffic.

They had barely come to a stop when 4 boys leaped out of the shadows and knocked on the windows with torch lights and asked them to roll down the windows. They were still trying to come to terms with rising levels of panic when the hoodlums shattered the rear windows on both sides of the car and proceeded to rough-handle the ladies in the back seat and collect all valuables. Diamond Banks Plc. has sacked over 1,000 workers because the financial institution is broke and it cannot pay the workers, reports have said.

Business findings revealed that the latest disengagement by the bank had to do with the need to realign its operations for a tougher 2015, especially as the monetary policy environment continues to get tighter.

Some of the regulatory measures introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria aimed at protecting the economy, according to findings, have started affecting the banks’ profitability.

It was learnt that apart from job cuts, the bank is also planning to reduce the number of new branches to be opened this year.

A source within the bank told correspondent that major projects and sponsorship programmes for third-party companies, which may not readily add to the bottom line, are also due to be axed by the bank.

According to reports, President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked the Managing Director of NPA, appoints Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero as the new Managing Director.

Sanusi will take over from Mallam Habib Abdullahi with immediate effect.

Jonathan thanks the outgoing Managing Director for his services and wishes him well in his future endeavors.

"We are still trying to compute the actual number of those rescued. But tentatively there are about 60 women of various ages and around 100 children," Army spokesman Sani Usman told AFP.

He also said one woman was killed in the fighting and eight other rescued hostages were injured. A soldier was also killed and four others wounded.
