Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan Are Expecting a Baby Girl

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, just announced that they are expecting their first child together. Zuckerberg announced it on Facebook, of course, and posted an adorable photo with their dog, Beast, who looks like the cutest mop ever. Zuckerberg and Chan also shared that the pregnancy came after years of trying and three miscarriages. "You feel so hopeful when you learn you're going to have a child,"

Zuckerberg wrote. "You start imagining who they'll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they're gone. It's a lonely experience." He says that the pregnancy is far along now and that the risk of loss is low. Chan and their future daughter are both healthy.

He says they decided to share their story because it is often considered taboo to talk about, but sharing information can only bring people closer together. "Most people don't discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you—as if you're defective or did something to cause this," he wrote. "So you struggle on your own."

Zuckerberg said his daughter already gave him a thumbs-up "like" during the ultrasound, so the whole family is definitely on the same wavelength. (Odds are good that she already has a Facebook URL reserved for her to use when she turns 13.) Congrats to the growing family!
