"I truly believe there is a ghost woman and her baby in that window," Natasha Oliver, 22 said.

Woman stabs robber to death in Lagos in self defence

A middle-aged woman is currently recuperating in a Lagos hospital, after robbers stormed her rented apartment on the Lagos Island, during which she stabbed one of the assailants to death.

It was learnt that the woman, identified simply as Adenike, and her family were attacked on Tuesday at about 2am on Eyin Iga Street. It was gathered that the robbers, who were armed with knives and cutlasses, reportedly gained entrance into the house after damaging the gates. 

It was also learnt that when the robbers got to Adenike’s apartment, a struggle ensued between Adenike and one of the robbers, identified as Quadri Iginla, who cut her with a knife. Adenike was said to have wrenched the knife from Iginla, and stabbed him in the stomach.

ABC reports Bobbi Kristina Brown, who died Sunday, will be laid to rest next to her mother Whitney Houston in New Jersey. 

Brown, who was the only child of Houston and singer Bobby Brown, will be buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield on Monday. The funeral is set to take place in in Alpharetta, Georgia, on Saturday at St. James United.

Mariah Carey Is Directing a Hallmark Christmas Movie

The Associated Press reports Mariah Carey, a songbird who is currently in love, is set to direct a Christmas movie for the Hallmark Channel. And I am dead from writing the last part of that sentence. 

Mariah will direct and co-star in something called "Mariah Carey's Christmas Project,"​ which hopefully will be the final name and not just a working title. She'll begin work on the movie in the fall. There's no word yet on who else will be in the film or what it will be about, but as long as it's something  along the lines of ​Glitter 2: A Christmas Miracle, ​you can definitely count me in for this.

I headed an Army with no equipment–Badeh

The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (retd.), has said that the Army he headed was one with no equipment.

The former Chief of Defence Staff made the statement while delivering a valedictory speech at a pulling out parade organised in his honour at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, on Thursday.

He said, “Permit me to also add here that the nation’s militaries are equipped and trained in peace time for the conflicts they expect to confront in the future. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience as a nation.

“Over the years, the military was neglected and under-equipped to ensure the survival of certain regimes, while other regimes, based on advice from some foreign nations, deliberately reduced the size of the military and underfunded it.

“Unfortunately, our past leaders accepted such recommendations without appreciating our peculiarities as a third world military, which does not have the technological advantage that could serve as force multipliers and compensate for reduced strength.

Import waivers: Senate probes Jonathan’s govt

THE Senate on Thursday commenced the probe of alleged abuse of the waiver regime under former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The upper federal legislative chamber has set up a committee to investigate alleged abuse of import waivers by the Jonathan administration. The ad hoc committee, headed by Senator Adamu Aliero, will probe import waivers from 2011 to 2014.

The President Muhammadu Buhari government had a few weeks ago said it would probe the Jonathan administration.

Kylie Jenner will celebrate her 18th birthday in Canada

Kylie Jenner will turn 18 on Aug. 10th, however, she won't celebrate her birthday in the States because the legal drinking age is 21 years.

We’re not sure we’d call Chris Brown Karrueche Tran’s leftovers, since Rihanna had him first, but we get the picture. There’s no reason for Rihanna to throw salt in Karrueche’s wound by saying she wasn’t right for Chris. That’s a bit harsh.

 Rihanna thinks Chris “needs someone who’s equally yoked,”  adding that in the “Umbrella” singer’s eyes, Karrueche “doesn’t cut it” as the right type of girlfriend for Chris.

Does Rihanna feel that she’s the right girlfriend for Chris? It’s too early to tell. They've already reconciled once before, following his 2009 assault on her and their subsequent breakup. So anything is possible. And lately, she’s been admiring his soft side.

Scores killed in Indonesian military plane crash

No fewer than 113 people died on Tuesday after an Indonesian air force C-130 plane crashed into a building in city of Medan, on the northern island of Sumatra.

Twelve crew members and 101 passengers, comprising military personnel and their relatives, were reportedly on board of the aircraft. No sooner than the plane took off from an air force base in neighbourhood when it lost control, crashed on the buildings and went up in flames.

The plane was said to be heading for Tanjung Pinang in Sumatra.
